Our mentorship Program
Each year Ad 2 Austin connects our audience with local ad pro’s through our spring mentorship program. Mentor Information
This program’s made possible through the talented local ad professionals donating their time to help the next generation of creatives, account executives, and media planners. If you’re working in the Austin ad scene and want to give the guidance you wish you had when you were starting out, then this is the program for you!
What are the requirements to be a mentor?
In order to be a mentor, you’ll need to be actively working in the Austin advertising industry and have a minimum of 3 years of experience. There’s no cost to be a mentor in the program, but all mentors are required to meet with their mentee at least once a month throughout the program (January-March 2023) as well as attending a small handful of in-program events.
How do mentors get matched with mentees?
After applications close in early December, our team creates a shortlist of three potential mentees for each mentor. We remove all personal information from the mentee’s resume and application, to eliminate bias, and send each mentor a list of three potential mentees for them to rank in order of preference. This list of three will reflect the role/areas of expertise the mentor is able to provide guidance to ensure the mentee receives the mentorship they're looking for.

Mentee Information
If you’re a student, recent grad, or young professional looking for hands-on mentorship to offer you guidance in starting your career, this program is for you! Our Spring Mentorship program will match you with local ad professionals from some of the best agencies in Austin.
How does the program work?
If accepted, you’ll be put through our matching system to pair you with a mentor that we feel best matches your career interests and will help you reach your desired career goals. After pairings are complete the program will begin in January and last till March, where each mentor and mentee will be required to meet at least once a month. The program will also feature 3 in-program events designed to provide additional insight into the industry.
What are the requirements to apply?
All applicants must be a student, recent grad, or young professional in the greater Austin & San Marcos area with an interest in working in the advertising industry. If accepted into the program, applicants must pay a small fee of $30 to participate. Our Ad 2 members receive a discounted rate of $15. Please note all AAF TXST students are automatically members of Ad 2 and are eligible for this discounted rate.
How do mentors get matched with mentees?

We will then remove all personal information from the mentee’s resume and application, to eliminate bias, and send each mentor a list of three potential mentees for them to rank in order of preference. This list of three will reflect the role/areas of expertise the mentor is able to provide guidance in to avoid a situation such as a copywriter having to mentor someone interested in media and to ensure the mentee receives the mentorship they're looking for.
Once all mentee rankings have been submitted by each mentor, the team will make final pairings and alert the mentee and mentor in mid-January.
